Four Points Preparatory Academy in Braselton has opened an additional kindergarten class, bringing the total number of kindergarten classes to five.
“It is going great,” Principal Amanda Brown said at the Four Points Prep School Board’s Aug. 18 meeting. “So, we were able to get the class sizes down to about 19, 20, so that’s been really, really helpful for the teachers.
Overall, Four Points had 391 students in K-5 on Day 1, following an opening day of 389 students on July 31. The school has started reaching out to all families who opted not to enroll to see if they’re interested in attending.
“Because some of them could be homeschoolers,” Four Points Prep School Board Chairperson Pam Estabrooke said. “They could not be in a county school.”
“We’re going to call all of those families,” Brown added.
In other news, Brown announced that the school hopes to begin offering intramural athletics by October. Sports will include soccer, tee ball, basketball, chess, checkers, LEGO and mahjong.
